AMANDA GOODISON, MSc, RSLP, Speech-Language Pathologist

Amanda has been a member of the Leap! team since 2013. She has 12 years of experience providing speech and language therapy to children with a wide variety of goals.  Amanda’s interest in helping children reach their potential surfaced early on, when she worked as a camp counselor and ski instructor through her teen years.  While she was obtaining her Bachelor of Arts degree at UBC, she discovered her passion for psychology, linguistics and language learning and decided to pursue a Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology, which she obtained from UBC in 2005.  Since then, she has been combining her love of working with children and their families with her enthusiasm for speech and language development.
Amanda is a member of the College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of British Columbia (CSHHPBC), the BC Association of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists (BCASLPA), and Speech-Language and Audiology Canada (SAC).   Her passion for learning is not limited to the children with whom she works; she is also a dedicated continual learner and pursues further expertise whenever possible.  Areas of interest and continuing education have included Autism Spectrum Disorders, Childhood Apraxia of Speech, fluency (stuttering), phonological disorders and articulation, parent coaching for language facilitation, behavior, and attachment.
Outside of work, Amanda’s interests include spending time with family, including her husband and two young children, photography, reading, and writing.  She is also an accomplished martial artist with almost 20 years of training under her belt.
