STEPHANIE CLARE, MSc., RSLP, Speech-Langauge Pathologist

stephanie@leaptherapy.ca

Stephanie's interest in child language development began, in part, as she became fluent in French through the French Immersion program and while living in Quebec on a three-month exchange during high school. After graduation, she went on a Rotary youth exchange and lived in Argentina for a year where she became fluent in Spanish. In 2003, Stephanie completed a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Linguistics from Simon Fraser University. When contemplating career possibilities, speech-language pathology seemed a perfect fit to combine her interests in language development and working with children. Stephanie graduated in 2006 with a Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of British Columbia. She has spent the years since working in several school districts in the lower mainland. In these positions she worked primarily with students with special needs and learning disabilities. She provided assessment, direct therapy, and consultation with their school-based teams. This included writing goals for their Individual Education Plans as well as program planning with their Educational Assistants and Learning Support Teachers. Stephanie's areas of interest and expertise include working with children with speech sound and phonological disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorder and other special needs, social-cognitive deficits, and receptive and expressive language delay. Stephanie enjoys working with both the preschool and school-aged populations.

Stephanie is a member of the College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of British Columbia (CSHHPBC), Speech-Language and Audiology Canada (SAC), and the British Columbia Association of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists (BCASLPA). She continues her professional development education by attending conference sessions in her areas of interest.

In her spare time, Stephanie enjoys spending time with her husband and two young busy boys. She likes running, playing hockey and traveling. She is thrilled to join the Leap Therapy team!
